Hi, I’m Merritt Baynes. I’m the Virginia-based artist and surface pattern designer behind Scarlet Soleil Design.

Drawn to playful florals, rich color, and hand-drawn charm, I spent childhood summers (and most spare moments) dreaming up cozy interiors and backyard escapes. Even in class, I was often caught doodling, whether it was simple florals or elaborate floor plans.

With a deep love for nature and design (as well as the skills shaped by studying landscape architecture and planning at Virginia Tech), I create joyful, imperfect, whimsical patterns and florals meant to brighten daily life. Art and imagination have always been my way of escaping the noise of the world. Now, I hope my work offers that same kind of joy to you!
